Nursing Homes

Staffing

In 2001, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services proposed minimum staffing standards. Only 25% of nursing homes were found to be meeting those total nursing hours in 2019. We know that COVID-19 only exacerbated this staffing crisis. We are here to work with your organization and your nursing homes to re-think their approach to the staffing crisis and to mitigating the never-ending battle of turnover. By leaning into our human-centered design methodologies of empathy mapping and process redesign we can create a community of action amongst nursing homes in your region.

Quality and Safety Training

In February 2014, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) released its report Adverse Events in SNFs: National Incidence among Medicare Beneficiaries. It reported that one in three skilled nursing facility (SNF) beneficiaries were harmed by an adverse event or temporary harm event within the first 35 days of their skilled stay. The OIG determined that nearly 60 percent of those events were preventable. Quality Improvement training and patient safety principles are needed more in the nursing home setting than arguably any other care setting in this country. Let our team partner with your QIO to deliver just in time on-site or digital on-demand quality improvement training courses to your nursing homes.

Learning Collaboratives

Our team specializes in operationalizing learning collaboratives. Through these cohorts we are able to bring together nursing homes focused on a specific topic they are working on. We have deployed learning collaboratives on topics such as OUD, health and racial equity, care coordination and falls just to name a few. Our sprint methodology can be deployed to any clinical or strategic initiatives as we lean into adult learning principles and peer to peer engagement.
