Strategic Planning
Every team has to do it. We help groups analyze their current state, design a compelling vision for the future, and roadmap the activities that will bring about their goals. Whether it is annual strategy planning, medical planning, product launches, or any exercise that requires figuring out ‘what to do,’ we help design, test, and launch inspiring plans. Our approach is highly interactive (using design canvases, digital whiteboards, and facilitated conversations) and can be done either in person or virtually.
A key part of our approach is the testing and refinement of your plan. It isn’t good enough to just have leadership tell the team – ‘let’s go.’ Plans, just like products or services, can be tested and refined by gathering feedback on prototypes. The ostensible reason for testing your plan is to gain input for improvement; the unstated but powerful benefit is building understanding and a sense of ownership with the broader group. An iterative process (which doesn’t have to take more than a few days) can make the whole planning process and outputs more engaging and poised for success.
Innovation
The buzzword word with a million definitions. At a high level, innovation is problem-solving. How can we create value in new ways? How do we adjust our business model in new circumstances? How might we improve a process that leads to improvements?
We root our innovation approach in human-centered design, helping teams understand challenges and needs through the eyes of key stakeholders. Once we understand the challenge, we will prototype “solutions” and test their resonance. Often done in ‘design sprints’, we work with small teams to understand, ideate, iterate, and scale their innovations.

Our equity work is vast, from pharma organizations to associations to health systems. We know that this is a high priority, and there are a few ways that we might be able to help We design large-scale employee engagement exercises. These events focus on what works well today, bringing groups of people together to discuss opportunities for improvement, planning future ambitions, and just listening to one another’s stories.
Our equity work also taps into our classic strategy and innovation practices—modeling investment, designing and testing pilots in local communities, gathering data on how things are working, and creating a long-term strategy for investment and change.
In addition to our employee engagement and strategy work around equity, we have also been key partners in creating organizational assessments that have been taken by over 100 hospitals and healthcare organizations.

Rooted in human-centered design, our fundamental approach is to teach people storytelling skills by actually helping them build their own stories, pitches, and strategic plans.
Story + Telling
Having a great narrative isn’t enough. We work with groups to refine their Story (content and alignment on what is communicated) but also work on the Telling (the channels we reach people through and the campaign strategy over time).
Storytelling work ranges from large-scale interactive workshops/training to 30-day design sprints with individual teams. It’s a recurring theme that we hear about – all our clients need to convince people of a point of view. It is part of all the work that we do, and there are many creative ways that we can engage in this.
